after updates and when i hit play i get a message saying eqgame.exe encounterd a problem then it feze up and i have to hit ctrl alt delete and manualy exit every time and i have run complete scan a bunch of times _________________

We had issues like that, running it under wineq2 helped with it. I can't remember the exact details but that's how we got it to work. (it's my wife's system with win7, I'm still on xp) |

In addition to the other items mentioned, you should go to the DirectX webiste and run the application there. EQ is dX9.0C and the newer versions don't have all the files required by EQ ... I had a similar problem with Win 7 x64
