Hello All,
Raid attendence has plumeted, we need to figure out what we can do to meet the membership desires for raiding without having multiple canceled events because of low turn out or lack of healers: Options being discussed are:
1) Cancel historically low turn out nights (Wed, Thurs), either or or both?
2) Delay start time of raid for 30 to 60 mins to avoid conflicting with other raid events? Wed, Thurs, Friday, Saturday (any or all),
3) Run open raids on nights? Wedsday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (any or all).
4) Anyone willing to help organize events or run flagging events for raid events?
Any and all ideas would be appreciated.
If we keep canceling events because of low tun out or lack of healers we will just build the opinion that we cant pull the raids togeather anymore.
Please post your ideas.
Thank you Ilumia
Folks, I've not been there this week due to the narsty rootkit. I'm hoping to be back this weekend, but no promises (rootkit removed, but I lost a LOT of drivers that I'm tracking down. Can't even access the net atm, one driver was the tcp/ip )
I'll be there to help when able, but will be late Wed/Thurs, Fri/Sat I normally will be on time and able to help.
My vote is in although what I really would have voted for was a combination of two of the options. Delay raid time 30 - 60 mins and open raids on wed/thurs nights would have been my choice but by far the delay start time would help with my attendance. I know I have been MIA lately and that really has nothing to do with AH. Lately, I have been battling the burnout blues with some recent events in EQ that left a bad taste so to speak. Taking a much needed break and hopefully will find the desire to play again soon.
I am just an App... so this is an outside perspective as opposed to a more pragmatic internal one... with that being said. The down turn in players prior to a new release is fairly normal. As some people burn out, and more of the hardcore are in beta; the number of players online is always down. I would encourage not worrying about it too much. If an occasional open raid works, then great. If some raids get canceled for low attendance, that is ok too. Sometimes forcing a solution can cause more issues than the "fix" actually cures. By mid Novemeber, these issues will be a thing of the past.
I'll have to agree with Rten here. I would hate to actually cancel days, since sometimes its harder to add things back in later on. I'd recommend pushing the time back on Wed/Thu and make one or both of them open raids. This will give some time for finding those open raiders that want to join in, plus give some time for raid guild members to finish and join in. This will also expose new players to how we do raids in an organized manner and show them who we are.
I think some good open raid targets are those that we've been messing around with lately. Solteris will open up Pure Power Sources for newer toons, plus allow people to buy them from a vendor if we get far enough. MMM and Crystallos can be stuff people missed out on and like we saw last week, Crystallos does offer some rk 3 discs to some classes
I remember when Underfoot came out, we often had to spend Wed. and/or Thurs. doing "mass slaughter" events where we basically just take everyone who shows up and travel to a new zone to see what's there.
Then for awhile we even did "group progression" nights where we split up the raid into groups to work on UF flagging. For some of us, that was our best chance to get those flags.
Then Fri/Sat would go back to the normal raid targets.
The cycle always seems to be this way. We get a lot of people who are focused on the Beta, and then the new expansion content, and want to see everything there is to find there. A couple months later they start showing up to raid again.
While there is always a place for After Hours, it's sometimes hard to figure out where that place is from time to time.
