Have you tried going to the seer in PoK and unlocking memories to find out where hes at? Here is a link that I use for reference on PoP flags.

Sounds to me as if your shortcut key is missing, try and go into your EQ file and find everquest.exe and open that. It should run your patch program and take you directly into EQ.
