I use the raid UI tool on occasion. I have colors selected for each class.
Beasties , orange
Rangers , green
Pallies , purple ( of course )
etc.

gives a nice " snapshot " at a glance of the raid force.

Oooh I do that to! I match them to the colors that feels right. Pallies white, SKs grey, necros black, shammies purple (no clue why, but they feel purple), rangers green, druids a yellowy brown (leather?), wizzies electric blue, enchanters silvery blue, berserkers reddy purple, mages red, bsts orange brown, monk light brown, clerics light blue, bards yellow, warriors pink, rogues dark brown.

Totally off topic now, but would love to know what colors others use.

I have Warriors Red for the blood we spill, Rangers brown for the dirt they nap in, Pallies are obviously Pink.

LOLOLOLOL

And here I was about to post: "Oh look, another one of Kreaven's threads. Let's hijack it." But ya'll beat me to it.

And WTH is it with everyone coloring the raid window... OMG grow up will ya

Seriously though, this does explain something to me. I noticed the other night that Wwein could not tell when someone was not in the zone via the raid window. I am guessing that would be because he has used up all his crayons on the different classes.

I have NOT set any colors to the raid window and when someone is not in zone, the raid window adds a color to the name.... I would think this to be a valuable tool to a raid leader to know when everyone is in the zone....

I can see the status colors just fine with the classes colored as well. Unless I zone with the raid window open, they all show white then until I close and reopen it.

It just colors the class name not the entire line so you can still see when someone is not in the zone.

Ah okay..

Like I said, I don't use the colors... If I wanted to color, it wouldn't be in EQ. Twisted Evil

You big whiners! I moved it for you.

And nods the colors just color the classes not the player names. It's absolutely vital so that I can quickly see that every group has a healer, to give enchanters to caster DPS, so I can grab and move warriors etc. Anyone who ever leads a raid Must do this, it's so useful. I'd recommend it to everyone attending raids too, as you can quickly identify who to send tells for buffs.

The thing with raiders showing out of zone is a bug and nothing to do with the class colors. There's a couple of seconds lag when moving players through groups ever since they modified the raid window. I think this is what causes the bug where it'll show a raider as yellow (out of zone) when they aren't, and vica versa. It may also be that when shuffling raiders, it'll confuse the raid window as to who is out of zone or in zone, taking it a moment to adjust. I've stood next to a raider, seen them yellow in the raid window, and then their yellow status appears a few moments later. Just to add to the confusion, the raid window marks a raider's name in red as i target and shuffle them, and I've noticed those people turn yellow afterwards on a few occasions. Targetting someone else, back on them, and back off again usually fixes it, but it's a pain.

But anyways, color for raid classes is very cool!

Cleric=green, because that is the color as my H.O.T. potion button
Chanters=Blue, because that is the color of my Clarity potion button
Beasties=orange, because that is the color of my Spirit potion button
Shamans=red, just cause they are

Dont color any of the others cause there is no need for me to get in touch with them after a rezz, hehe.

Pink for warriors Wwein? what are you trying to say there?

I group the colors by role with shades by class, i.e. green for healers and bright green for clerics, darker green for druids, red for tanks with bright red for warriors, darker red for SK's.

Utility classes are shades of yellow, i.e. necro, shaman, enc. DPS are shades of blue.
