Since the last patch my system has become rather unstable. Everything will be fine for hours and then ---BOOM--- bunches of lag. What is worse is that at least five times over the last three days the screen will darken a bit, freeze, the HD LED will show some action and then everything frezzes and I have to reboot. This happened tonight during QM.
Anyway, I deleted some EQ files and I am going to update my video drivers. Hopefully, this will end the problem. |

My system has been unstable since patch as well. Think I have fixed since its not happened for the past week. Following leads from the EQforum, I made sure my Jounal was disabled, which it was, ( alt+ J). Then I removed all the text files from the jounal folder. Set my memory options to " Original" from the Options menu in game. Also updated my drivers.

No definitive help from the link, but shows your not alone. Maybe you can get a bandaid solution from it. |

Well, I updated the drivers, reloaded the Direct X stuff. We'll see if that works. I think I'll also try the tip of the original memory usage as well.

Out of curiosity, is there any odd chance that one of you computer geek types (I mean that in the nicest possible way ) might have an old socket 370 PIII MB with an AGP slot lying around that can handle more than 512 mb of RAM ? I realize that this isn't likely, but I have an old computer that I can't afford to replace ATM that is very RAM deprived. |

Well as a matter of fact (without checking) I probably do. But it would cost as much to ship it as to replace it with a new motherboard these days... _________________

Hmmm, what is shipping on it ? $20.00 or so ? I haven't shipped any electronics in years. I can't seem to find a new socket 370 board anywhere. Not that that means they aren't out there of course. Now I wish I had a reason to go on a road trip up that way. San Diego area to San Jose is not the most interesting drive though.
Truthfully, though, until I get back to work it would have to wait anyway. Sigh |

Nice. Mine is an ATX case. Can I use a micro ATX board ? I am probably betraying my ignorance with that statement. |

I have had my own problems since the last patch. Zoning may be a bit slower and I have not crashed at all. However, I have had trouble when there are multiple mobs on me (have not had much trouble in raid however). I find that even on the entrapment task I cannot get the spell to work in time to get around the hut. I even see a slow when the mob changes form as in the wereorcs. thank you for that link I will check it out and see what else I can do to combat this latest issue with EQ. I really do not want to buy a new computer at this point either.
