Leaving EQ for WoW

Well, I didn't want to like it, but I just couldn't stop playing in the beta. There's a slew of social reasons and some gameplay reasons as to why I'm leaving, but I won't get into them here; if you really want to know, PM me, but I doubt anyone does Wink

Sun Clan is officially making a presence in WoW, and anyone joining the game is welcome to join us as well on a server, we should have a publicly announced server choice by the end of the first day of retail.

As for me, I'll be heading there as well. My EQ account is valid until 12/20, but I just don't see myself logging in to be honest.

I'll miss many of you, but as many of you that would miss me have already left, my leaving will only impact some, I'd wager to say. Ah well, it was a good run...

Well sadly i can understand cause i too was dragged into Wow open beta screaming and kicking. And i liked it....I have played EQ 5 years since right after release and i have never played another game or wanted too.. But i said okay fine i will try open beta.. Well i loved it. I guess the thing that got me is you can play an hour and log and get alot done in that hour. You dont have to stay on for hours i love that. Anyways i shall miss my friends but not forget them !!! Blame the cleric he made me try it Razz

FWIW, I am headed to WoW as well. EQ account expires 12/3 but I doubt I am not much prior to it expiring.

Guess ill just add mine here to save some space as well. Ill be trying to keep my EQ account going, cus you never know when youll want to play another game, but aside from my seething hatred of SOE, EQ just isnt what it once was for me. World of Warcraft is a very fun game...and rather stress-free...and as Bonny said, you can get alot done in an hour.

AH did alot for me, and I want you all to know, you guys made this game, not SOE, not the "difficulty" of the game...it was you guys being the incredibly cool and nice people that you are. Heh, also thanks for putting up with me Wink

. I had a blast raiding with you all, and I look forward to seeing some of you in WoW, and to those staying in EQ, keep kicking @$$

I really wish all of you going to WoW and EQ2 alot of happy hours of fun game time...if anything was different I do wish that we had helped eachother to finish what we were after in this game but that would have been in an ideal world and there is no such thingin gamelife or real life .
Heres hopinbg that when all things settle down those of us left can continue on in our fun AND our epics if enough are left afterwards! Smile

well i ran across a game card for EQ that hasnt been used... So i am sure i will still be popping on hehe its for 3 months !!

I am another that will be moving to WoW. I will be keeping my EQ account for the month that comes "free" with the retail version of WoW, but I do expect to cancel after that. A chapter of Mystic Crusaders will be present in WoW, and I expect to join them there.

For now, let me express my appreciation to AH, for your help allowed me to go much further in EQ than I ever expected to go.

PVE, but Sun is going for Central due to a higher concentration of EST/CST WoWers than PST/Mountain.

Well Volsy, It was good to play w/ you in EQ...It'll be good to play w/ you in WoW too!!

One question, though, If I let my EQ subscription go will it be there waiting for me if I decide to return 5 months from now, or 8 months or a year?

I've heard some stories of people leaving the game for a long while & then rejoining pretty much picking up where they left off.

Supposivly they wipe chars after 3 months (thats the warning they gave awhile back at least) but i had a friend drop the game for 2+ years and his first chars were still there...so I guess they keep em, maybe they expect people to be comming back.

My guild will be playing on Central server like in beta not sure which one yet...would be nice if we could wind up on the same server with sun !!

This is the 1st time for me to witness a game fading as EQ was the 1st for me. Im trying to decide if I really wish to continue ...dont get me wrong I love EQ2 its a lot of fun but Im not sure i want to start over in a new game with a new guild. I think for me its mainly that I dont feel finished with EQ1 . Last few days I havent played either game while trying to decide what I am going to do. One option is to have both games since 22 bucks is a very reasonable price . Decisions...decisions...

We're holding out (or reserving the right to hold out) on a server until Wed noonish because of the inherent...crappiness of Blizzard's decision for release day servers; we don't want half the guild getting in early Tues and half late Tues or later and not being able to start on the same server.
