I'm a little confused about how one's tier is determined. According to the AH info section, tiers are determined as follows:
Point Tiers:
Players are separated by point ranges classifying them as a certain 'Tier.' Each tier consists of three(3) points, starting at Tier 1 and extending infinitely. Tier 1: 0-2.99 Tier 2: 3.00-5.99 Tier 3: 6.00-8.99 Tier 4: 9.00-11.99 Tier 5: 12.00-14.99 Tier 6: 15.00-17.99 ... and so on.
So someone with a net DKP total of 12 would be tier 5?
Which is what i have, but I'm not tier 5 as is immediately seen from the information on the roster...this was true when I was tier 2, and tier 3 before. It seems like I'm having to earn an extra point more than what's outlined in the loot code to actually make it into the next tier. Am I misunderstanding something?

12 points is tier 5, but not total points, you need net points. Your total is over 12 (tier 5), but you spent 2, so now you are still tier 4. Look at the whole roster and at some that have been raiding a long time and have a lot of earned points, but have also spent a lot...ok I found a perfect example.
DKP Stats -Korinne
Total DKP: 132.75 Spent DKP: 118.00 Net DKP: 14.75
Total Raids: 281 Items Won: 17 Tier: Tier 5
Her net is between 12-14.9, therefore she's at tier 5...because she's spent all the other points she's ever earned.

Yes...the system is designed to reward those that raid alot but also allow those that get loot to drop tiers, therefore evening the playing field. Lots of points went out of top tiers last night and you will see some of us old timers (not Wend /bonk) in the tiers with some of the new players that have been raiding consistently with us since April _________________ It takes talent to lose oneself.
