After downloading the patcher background this morning, I am getting a connection failure message so that i cannot even connect to the patcher - I am more than irritated with Sony - I may just quit the game.....

Sounds like we are going to have a patch to fix this patch. SOE's streak of ineptitude continues. Hopefully you wont quit the game over this, but seeing how well they did CS the last week, I wouldn't blame you if you did.

Honestly, every game/maker has its issues. WoW/blizzard has horrible lag time when they get even a minimum amount of players on a given server, EQ2 runs like crap in general and every other game I've played has some sort of issue. One needs to keep in mind that online gaming has only been around for several years and has come a long way since it was first developed. No doubt sony could do more testing/development to reduce the bugs, but some bugs are PC specific and cannot be identified until a live version is tested......sony has its problems, but so does everyone else.

I happened to be on-line when the server went down this morning - about an hour before I expected it to. Oddly when I tried to check the web site it was down also as was EQ2. I suspect Sony had some sort of major problem or we would have been warned (they give plenty of warning for scheduled shut-sowns). Perhaps soon they will say something on their site about what the cause was - power failure? virus? whatever - it did not look like something on purpose this morning.

Anyway don't give up!

making no excuses for sony, but we've been having strong gusty winds here in southern california for the last 48 hours....might be related to that...

Well, here it is Wednesday and I am still getting the connection failure message - what makes me think this is personal is my kids in tiwn are on cable and they can access the server! I thin SOE just hates me and my dialup. Going to have to call them today - the kid spent most of last evening doing to thispc what he did to his to get it going again - Any oneknow how to turn off the you aren't protected coz you turned Norton's Anti-Virus off message?

PS. Cal, I got that message last year sometime and thought it was very relevant to everything! Well, it made me laugh anyway - Weel, back to reading - at least I can access books!

okay I figured it out - Now i got to take back what i said about SOE hating me and take to cussing Bill Gates again - Interent exploroer had gotten that use proxy setting and man I do not even use it anymore.....
